kernel-headers says it is needed to compile system software, which I
presume means kernels. Would we want to use the sw81 compiler software to
compile an SW71 kernel? If not, do we need this file for compiling
general C++ programs (for a course where everyone else is doing Windows)?

Okay. If I change to an SW81 kernel am I now using SW81? (With older
programs that are upward compatible). Not that I need a different kernel,
just curious.

Thanks, I will do this once we get the new compiler stuff working.

OK. It is great having Opera. I notice that if I try to download several
things at a time with wget, they all go slowly and then when one finishes,
the other does not speed up. With Opera it somehow allots each of three
downloads roughly equal resources and when one is done, the others go
faster. I dont'know if Opera will resume broken downloads. Is there any
other program we should try now that we have the new glbic? This comptuer
is our fastest, with 128M RAM and 500MHz cpu and 8G har drive.
