I think I "borrowed" it from tomsrtbt.

It gets the addresses and tells you, but it doesn't
actually set them up for you. You have to do that
by hand.

That's how it works.

On the contrary, it does find out the addresses. What
would you do on a dhcp network without it?

Yeah, several people complained. But when I tried to get
them to help improve it, they went quiet. I didn't have
access to a dhcp network myself, so I was dependent on
assistance from users.

Apparently the dhcp client in BL2 works much better (but
again, I have never used it personally).

I can guarantee you that the Xvesa mini-distro I am working
on will not do dhcp (at least for a long time). There are
far more important issues to sort out.
