Thanks for the instructions. If booting without anything in autoexec.bat
and config.sys solves any of the problems that I am still having
(microcom? ) I will make such a menu, but I would like to be able to use
all the BLs after booting into regular DOS and using programs there, some
of which require autoexec.bat and config.sys.

A couple of problems seem to go away after rebooting a few times. Xvesa
works despite himem.sys and emm386.exe (Win98).

I have decided not to put Windows on the same computer with anything else.
We have about 20 computers and can switch monitors between three on one
desk.
