I booted the other cmoputer and I am looking at the mail menu in BL2. It
is not identical - Q instaed of 7. And 3k instead of instructions to type
K to keep meessages (we could not figure out whether to type k, or 3 then
k). (Sorry, very bad telnet lag so I can't see what I type).
I find 3k. on a separate line makes more sense. In BL3 I would have typed
just 'k' to keep messages, and just H for help (not 6H).
In BL2 on that computer when I type 6, I see 6 appear onscreen.
In BL3 I did not see the 6 appear. Same monitor. That was yesterday.
Today I see the 6. I have a witness, who also tried typing, that the
numbers did not appear on the screen yestrday (second time I booted BL3).
They also did not appear (no witness) the first time I booted.
(
First time I booted, and typed startx, and a, I did not see any a appear.
Second time that worked. On the other computer all of this worked on the
first try.
The computer where it all works is a PII AMD K6, the other one has a
genuine Intel P133. I would try on my Cyrix but it is formatted with
DR-DOS.
Other people have reported needing to boot twice to get something to work.
I think it was Xvesa.
There seems to be some video prolem - missing curssor in rxvt, missing
numbers in mail, missing letters in startx, need to reboot to get video to
work with Xvesa.
We can try formatting a test drive (without DDR-DOS) in a computer with
Cyrix cpu, or another Intel. Let me know what to try BL3 on. Sould I It
is hard to ttest whent he problem is not reproducible on the second (ro
third) boot.
