I know. I suppose at our age the way we interpret the universe is fairly fixed-it has become part of our base personality....whether we see the glass as half empty or half full. I have done better over the years, but I will always fight the pessimistic side of me that sees a hostile universe first...I often shake my head, rub my eyes, and only then can I see that things weren't as I thought at first.
Homesteading and living this lifestyle as opposed to my previous lifestyle definitely helps calm me so that I can see/perceive the friendly universe. In a city/urban/suburban environment, where there are too many people, too much noise, and too much pollution, it becomes very, very difficult to see anything but hostility.

I sincerely hope that nothing happens to you to change your paradigm. I would imagine that a friendly universe is not only nicer, but easier. :)

Bad things still happen; it's how we react to them that matters.

"Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan 'press on' has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race"

~ Calvin Coolidge
