I just discovered the PS/2 trackball from the dead
NEC laptop does not work in linux. No surprise
since the last laptop trackball would not work with
BL either. James said he got it working in a larger
linux.

There are several options in the kernel config for
mouses (which I left out to save space).
I noticed while compiling - you included ms and ps2.
What would this trackball be called in the kernel source?

Do you mean the left button can be clicked instead of
using the arrow keys to go between links, or that you
click on a link with the mouse to go to that link as
in graphical browsers?

You click on a link to go to that address.

SHIFT-left button to cut, just SHIFT to paste?

Middle button to paste.

Links console - gpm mouse acts normally, no SHIFT needed.
Did not yet try with links2 in X as I got sidetracked trying to use BL3 telnetted as X terminal.

I am doing it wrong somehow:
On server (Bl2) export DISPLAY=192.168.1.7:0
in.telnetd -debug

On client (Bl3)
startx (having booted with 2-floppy lilo)
telnet 192.168.1.1

I am in X but cannot run any X applications from BL2
Or svga applications. Error messages.
Lynx CLI works fine except that after I untelnet the server
now displays lynx in mono (with the link where you are black on black).
Had to reboot to fix this. Probably Xvesa at work again, causing problems.

Please help.

Can disk 1 of the 2-floppy BL3 somehow be used to
boot to the HD BL3 with lilo?

Yes. As soon as LILO appears on the screen, press ALT
Then enter: hd root=/dev/hda3
(assuming your root filesystem is at /dev/hda3)

Thanks, much simpler than making a boot disk. ALT left okay?

Cheers,
Steven
