The store closings - yep another reason to stock up, asap.

Cash shortage.... why? Are you thinking because Fed wants to going around the
banks who are hoarding, and this will further impair their liquidity?

Credit cards, good idea to max them out.... before they cut those credit
lines... <G>

Gold - that that early, an early cycle low.

Oil - I forget the exact price, but fundamentalists warnings somewhere under
but not too far under Crude $40/ production starts shutting down.   Doesn't
explain the $25 puts.

Monied citizens have already been leaving, for the past year or so, have been
getting their $ out of the country.  One big money manager for an extremely
wealthy European, who had been in US for years, moved operation to Dubai last
summer.  They were going to go to UK and changed mid-stream.

Middle East - early to mid last year +/- Russia/China practicing nuke war
games for the mid-east.. russia in the air, china on the ground.  But B.O.
initiate another war, or response to an attack?

Global Trade changes, would love to see mfg come back home, but in reality
how?

****** Lynn, I'll go out on a limb and put to paper, publicly, what I
think will, happen, and what I fear might happen if the things I thnk will
happen 'do' occur. Later, in 2009, you will all have a record with
which to ridicule my errors.

1) After Christmas, many stores, well known and obscure ; large city chains
and small town icons, will close their doors, forever. By the end of
March,2009; this will have occurred all over the country, and in some cities
and towns, entire malls, and shopping centers will close and sit empty.

2) Also, by the end of March, we will have seen at least a small, regional;
but, maybe larger, unsceduled bank holiday, atm system failure, cash
shortage/rationing.

3) the price of gold (comex spot price) will have reached at least $1100, also
by the end of March

4) The Dem congress will at least 'attempt' some sort of anti gun,
anti-ammo, legislation before the end of their first session; even though they
have promised it is not even on their agenda.

5) By the end of March, gasoline will be $1.25 average price per gallon,
nationwide. One analyst siad the lows were set this week, but I keep this
prediction.

6) Meat and canned vegetables will continue to drop in price, through the
first of the summer of 2009, farmers will be slaughtering their herds because
the prices don't warrant the cost of upkeep.

7) Almost everyone in the country will have a close family member to become
unemployed, by the end of March, 2009. That 'pain' will be felt,
nationwide.

8) The Dems will, rathetr than realizing things are not going their way, will
keep 'doubling their bet' to try to get back into 'winning'
status; the bail-outs will grow so large and so common that people stop paying
attention, contnious for at least all of 2009.

9) By the end of 2009, most people's personal creidy, Credit cards, home
equity loans, wha-ever, will be cut almost all together, unless they fall into
newly created, government mandated, favored groups (just like tax deductions,
today) social -engineering by monetary policy.

10) When, BO's public works projects gets into full roll, the workers will
demand union type rights and eventual classification as some sort of protected
class of gov't employees, this within 2-3 years.

10)  By summer of 2009, the USD will have already peaked and will be devalued
either own its own or by fiat.  Other countries, our trading partners, will
be racing us to devalue the first and the most.  Right now, we are all
promising 'not'to do this.

11) By the end of 2009, over half the states in the country we be talking
some form of state 'bankruptcy, default; or insolvency'

12)  Young americans will emigrate to other safer, though lower paying,
countries for high tech work, in more free-market, reversing what has always
happened before.

13) many of our monied citizens, who 'didn't' get wiped out, will begin
emigrating, also, to safer countries, where the cost of living 'and' crime
are lower.

14)  2009, nationally,  all property and violent crime rates will be higher
than at any time since the 1970's.

15)  Within one year of his inaugeration, BO's popularity rating will be 35%
or lower, only the 'true believers' will still make excuses.  At the same
time, the popularity rating of congress will be below 20%

We've had a rash of possums this fall and winter but very fortunately we too
have a very good possum hound (not actually a hound though, an Aussie). She
has brough up a dozen dead ones, that is, freshly killed and two that were
playing possum. Not only are theys till breathing but the tail curl reflex is
unaffected and if you touch their tail with a stick, they will curl around it.

Did you know that it is not something the possum does voluntarily? It as a
sort of fainting coma brought on by stress and fright.

Possums and eggs don't mix. We've had to send one to be with its ancestors
when we cornered it in the chicken coop.
