Oops. You nailed it. I checked my ~/.ratpoisonrc and
there's a typo. I put -sl rather than -ls, and then
copied that line twice.

Thanks much, David.

About the swm vs. ratpoison RAM thing. Here's free and
ps with 3 windows up for swm:

total used free shared buffers
Mem: 126584 16992 109592 0 436
Swap: 128484 0 128484
Total: 255068 16992 238076
-------------------------------------------------------
PID Uid VmSize Stat Command
1 root 152 S init
2 root SW [keventd]
3 root SWN [ksoftirqd_CPU0]
4 root SW [kswapd]
5 root SW [bdflush]
6 root SW [kupdated]
22 root 212 S -sh
23 root 96 S /sbin/getty 38400 tty2
27 root 156 S /bin/sh /usr/X11R6/bin/startx
30 root 472 S xinit -- /usr/X11/bin/Xvesa -screen 640x4
31 root 1232 R /usr/X11/bin/Xvesa :0 -screen 640x480 -3b
32 root 156 S /bin/sh /root/.xinitrc
35 root 628 S swm
36 root 656 S /usr/X11R6/bin/rxvt -ls -g 68X30 -title A
37 root 656 S /usr/X11R6/bin/rxvt -ls -g 68X30 -title B

434 root 696 S /usr/bin/nvi /tmp/mutt-BasicLinux-432-1
437 root 156 S sh -c ps
438 root 152 R ps

And, when I reboot, this will be with ratpoison and three
windows up and mutt and nvi like above:

total used free shared buffers

42 root 684 S /usr/bin/nvi /tmp/mutt-BasicLinux-40-1
45 root 156 S sh -c ps
46 root 152 R ps

(If you want, I'll send you the output of lsof.)

And everything's okay with ratpoison. Excellent job making
this relatively new x-app work with BL, David. It's the best
window manager for X I've used, and I've tried a lot of
the smaller ones.

Great name, isn't it? Ratpoison.

Problem with it is that I _like_ rats. At least the woodrats, the
wild ones. Don't have any experience with city rats.
