but zgv for BL3 is statically compiled and would need to be replaced.

Is there a dynamic zgv for libc5? Or a dynamic seejpeg? Doesn't SW4
have one?

James Miller's semi-static newzgv for libc5 works with the tiny usb
storage kernel and BL1 (after adding James' libvgagl package). You
can also use it in BL3 after adding the BL1 vgalib. On either BL, it
is also possible to use the 'official' libc5 svgalib binaries from
svgalib.org. However, the official svgalib-bin needs an
/etc/vga/libvga.config with at least this one line:

chipset VGA

Newzgv will work where the original zgv did not? Why?
Would it work in BL2 only if we installed libc5?

Would this give you only 16 colors?

I put
chipset VESA
in the config file for chips like SiS, Tseng, Trident and Matrox.

After you create that, it works perfectly.
