I think people down there don't even question it. Every person I talked to
about that just paid the bill without asking what it was for. There are a
lot of little taxes like that on everything it seems, quite hidden,,,, so
they can pretend taxes (i.e. income taxes) are low. Income taxes ARE low,
but there are a zillioni other taxes in place attempting to make up for it.
Politicians dirty tricks.
I don't have trash, water, sewer, garbage, paved roads, recycling either.
There are county police, a few of them. The county here is about the same
size as Cook County (Chicago) IL,,,,,,, with a population likely less than
one square block in downtown Chicago. And I like it like that. They do have
a road scraper go by on some of the roads, but not others and my guess it has
to do with someone "knowing" someone in government. The kids from Mexico
cross the US border daily to go to the US public school up in town,,,,,,,,,,
something I've never understood why the US taxpayers have to pay for that.

Wow; it amazes me that some places are so unreasonable., or that people put
up with it. Here I think taxes are reasonable for the services (or lack of)
that we have, but still people fight every expenditure. Our township
doesn't have water, sewer, trash collection, recycling, police, zoning to
enforce, etc., so maintaining roads is about all they do. We pay fairly high
school taxes to the nearest school district.

Funny you mentioned that as I was recently discussing that history a couple
of months ago.
I suspect the city folks aren't talking that way much........ so the % is
questionable.
That should be the new way to handle telemarketers.... hmmmm,,,, tell them so
glad they called and ask them if they are angry about what Congress is doing,
and are they joining the armed revolution...........
Mom said she heard of regular TV news about the Bus that is going from city
to city from CA to DC for the 9/12 march on the capital. Frankly I'm amazed
they mentioned it. Maybe I should start turning the TV back on again.......
An evangelist preacher friend of mine, who talks to people from coast to
coast and has his own radio show, told me this afternoon that he suspects
that 30% isn't so far off the mark, judging by what he is hearing.
Still, in accounting you take optimistic projections, whack them in half to
be safe, and then whack them in half again. That way you can have upside
surprises.
If there is any truth to those numbers, they realizing should whack them in
half twice.... has a much better shock and awe effect that way.

I don't know if that is an accurate number. However, it is perhaps good to
keep in mind that only 12 % of the colonial population was actually involved
in the american revolution. The numbers don't have to be large, if they are
fired up enough, and prepared to suffer possible consequences for their
actions, as the Fathers were.

<snip>?
I also heard on the radio that 30% of the population is starting to talk
revolution... although I didn't hear the source of the statistic.? But they
were
talking armed weapons off with your heads for congress and wall street ?type
french revolution.

I sure hope not. They'll probably have to put me in jail if they are going
to force me to have screenings and shots. Don't people understand that
forcing flu shots on people is a TRANSFER OF WEALTH to big corporations by
USE OF FORCE called Obamacare? What's wrong with people?

>Poked my fingers down and sure enough found taters, so hilled up a bit
more soil.
Excellent. When it was time to hill my potatoes, one would have had to use
a water bucket. The areas between rows were forever standing with water.
That's why you see in my picture that one of the Russets (the others are
Norland Red) has a spot of green. By the bye, the green is NOT solanine,
it's
chlorophyl. Solanine is colorless and tasteless, but if you see the green,
there is a larger than normal concentration of solanine as well. Due to
neglected hilling there will be a number of greened potatoes this year. They
are set aside for French fries. While the temps of boiling and baking don't
break down the solanine, deep fat frying does, renders it harmless.
>> They can't possibly be seeds can they?
They are indeed and if the fruit naturally develops a white star on the
blossom end, the seeds will be viable as well. But growing plants from seeds
is difficult, has to be started indoors in the winter like tomatoes, and the
potatoes will not be true to type.
