This is the prescribed routine that I followed long ago when I had a personal
trainer.

The purpose was to

1) Increase muscle fitness & size (slightly)
- fit and larger muscles burn calories even when resting
-

I used to buy instant rice...no more. I bought a rice cooker a few
years back and then learned to cook rice(I used to always burn it). It
opened up a whole new world for me..so many kinds of rice to love!
Plus, it only takes a little bit of 'long cook' rice to feel full,
whereas with instant rice, it just doesn't have that rib sticking
starchy quality, so you eat more. Not good. (IMO)
I have fallen in love with real rice...brown rice. I do fix white rice
on occasion for certain dishes, but I like the brown rice like I like
the skins on my potatoes: I think it is healthier.
My everyday bread is a white bread-white bread flour bread, but I do
have what I call X-grain bread that I make every few weeks. It is a
whole grain bread where I throw in everything but the kitchen sink. It
has almond meal, bran, wheat germ, WW flour, sesame seeds, flax,
oats, poppy seeds,,literally everything I can think of. It makes a
wonderfully crunchy toast that I eat as a snack with butter and jam.
