I'm not much on political posts either. Although I think it is a particularly exciting time to have our first woman and bi-racial candidates, I'm trying to view them solely on their platforms and what I think they can accomlish in a very messed-up world, as I would hope they would want me to do. Personally, I like Obama for a myriad of reasons, and I could care less what color he is. I don't feel like he's using the race card either.

Besides liking his views on the issues, it's refreshing that he didn't grow up with a silver spoon in his mouth, that he knows first hand what it's like to grow up in a single parent household, that he appears to actually be listening, is poised, inclusive to others when he speaks, and is able to inspire the young to get out and vote. This is the first time in my life I have felt this strongly positive about a candidate or an election. But no matter who wins, it will be better than the last eight years. I may live in Texas, but I did not vote for Bush.

I've always not responded to the political threads on this list. I'm
breaking my rule and will probably pay for it.

Lynda, why do you keep bringing up race with Obama? His race seems to
be more of an issue for you than him. I keep hearing "race card", etc
when you post on Obama.

One reason I like the guy is he is the first black man running for
president in my lifetime that hasn't based most of his candidacy on
race. I watch him closely and I've not seen him "pulling the race
card". In fact, I've heard him say he could be "purple, polka dotted
or whatever" and you either like his politics or you don't.

Lynda, find another reason to not like Obama. I'm sure there is one out there.
