Technically she didn't actually say she had never been proud of the United States, HOWEVER, she did say, and I quote the exact words, not once but twice! "For the FIRST TIME I am really proud of my country . . ." and in another speech, "For the FIRST TIME I am proud of my country."

O.K., so she didn't actually say "I have not been proud of my country," but it is very clear by saying "for the FIRST TIME" that she hasn't been proud of the U.S. before.

AND, since her pride is based on race, perhaps she would be better served to have been proud a few years ago when the whole country was all for running Colin Powell. *He* choose not to run and was asked again to run in this election by both Dems and Republicans! A much better "person" all around than her husband!

I don't know. I think there are times we shouldn't be particularly
proud of ourselves as a nation. We do have things of which to be
ashamed.

That said, she didn't say she had never been proud of the United
States. She said she was really proud RIGHT NOW.

There are times when I feel more pride than others. I love my kids all
the time but there are moments when they shine. I note those times. I
think that's
what Michelle Obama was doing.
