You were on briefly after I joined in 2001, but shortly thereafter
you said you good-byes, saying it wasn't quite your cup of tea. I
assumed you meant the half-dozen daily bushbashings from TV. Later
you came back?

Truth be known, I did not leave then. In 2001, I was out crossing the
country, meeting the good folks on this list. I drove from Georgia to
Oregon and back over several months..a great adventure. If I said
goodbye then, it was to take my trip, otherwise it was just to lurk for
a while. I do that sometimes..

I don't suppose anyone else remembers the hop yeast posts,
either, it would seem.

I remember conversations about hops and yeasts, but not your post. When
was that?

I'm referring to your behavior when I went out of my way to send the
computer software I had written to draw a cute analemmatic sundial picture for any latitude and longitude, after you showed interest..
It wasn't very rewarding to hear not a word in response.

Bill, I am worried about you. Please recall that we shared several
emails about the sundial program. In the first place, according to what
you told me earlier, you did not write this, and I am sorry that you
felt that sending me a 100Kb program via email was going out of your
way. I could never get it to work for me, and I told you this. (at the
time, I had no way to open a .wps file) AND We determined that it was
specific to your location, remember? You then offered to use my lat and
long to adapt it for my location because I did not have the skills to
write the program myself.(This was an off list discussion between me and
Bill) I still have the emails saved on a backup disk, and could post
them if you wish. They are dated Sept 27 and 28th of 2006, if you need
to find them yourself. I replied to both emails you sent, and I was
waiting on YOU, not the other way around.
But thank you for reminding me about that, as I had forgotten the whole
incident. I would have never thought that my emails would have been
offensive to you. BTW, Sept 27 was Ron's birthday, so I may have been
distracted by family events at the time of writing making the email
short, but they were certainly not unenthusiastic or non-chalant.
Ah shoot, I'll just copy one of them..it shows we had a conversation,
and that I did NOT ignore you.

Multiquoted email to follow:

Okay, well, don't go to any trouble. My latitude and longitude are in
my sig file if you have some spare time and don't have anything better
to do<g>
What is the name of the program?

I'm pretty sure that the only "release version" that we have does a
picture for just my latitude and longitude. It's not hard to make it so
that the program accepts any location and generates a picture, but only
my systems programmer knows how to create a release version of the new
program, so I don't think I can have it until this weekend.
Alternatively, if you have any kind of facility for typing in and
running simple programs, like an old Commodore 64 or Apple II, or a
compiler for your present computer, or even a programmable calculator
that does graphics, you could easily enter the source code after
adapting the I/O commands. It's just a few formulas and maybe an
If-Then or two inside one big loop.

You'll notice that one main feature of a modern computer is that
while
you can download ads and pop-ups galore, built-in facilities for writing
your own little programs are notably absent.

Wow, that's cool....way cool. My husband, Ron, and I are members of
a regional astronomy group/club. http://www.nwgaa.org/ and

We have monthly meetings here at the farm, and at least twice a
year,
we invite the public and it becomes a big event with participation from
the local schools, etc. Having something like this on the grounds would
be a great educational tool and of interest to all, and perhaps it could
also be a work of art. :)
How large is your program? I have a very slow internet connection
(26kbps) and dialup. I would love to have a copy of the program if it
is possible.

I hope this works. The reason I tried a second time was because
I
was able to send it to myself successfully. I guess it's just the
List's problem.

I can send you the program so that you can generate a picture for

your own location, or I could make one for you.

The truth is always objectionable to someone, it seems. Ads are like
porn; you can't define it, but you know it when you see it.

Bill

One of the reasons I don't respond much to you on the list is that I
don't understand what you are talking about half the time. What are you
talking about when you say ads or advertisements? That comes out of
left field for me..what do ads have to do with me and you?
