Interesting topic on cornbread. Of course, it should have no sugar or
other sweetener, but more importantly it should have no wheat flour,
not even the whole grain stuff. This is all you need:
1 1/2 cups yellow cornmeal
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 1/2 cups buttermilk
1 large egg, lightly beaten

I use only stone ground cornmeal. The refined stuff has no taste,
which is probably why people jazz it up with cheese and hot peppers
and the like.
