directly to iPod, no.

(aside: you could download directly into the iPod as a drive, but then the tags wouldn't get parsed and the the iPod's little database wouldn't know about the songs, and you couldn't get to them. so don't do that.)

you download to you music directory path on a drive on your PC/Mac.

from there you fire up one of the many software packages capable of iPod music loading. this software recognizes your connected iPod, and you've configured it to know about your music directory. generally you can either do a full sync (if your music directory will fit on yr iPod), or browse to particular sub-directories, artists, albums, etc. and load songs in batches. options vary by proggie. disconnect the iPod and when it restarts the new tracks are available. ez like pie.
