What do I change to make the loop partition read-write?

A bug in 2.4.31? I will try mounting initfs.gz from
an ext2 linux booted with 2.4.31, and writing to it.

That worked fine. gunzipped it first.

Good idea. I was thinking of proposing something like this. Bear in mind that DSL (so as not to incur sanctions from SPGPACA, I will note that DSL stands for DamnSmallLinux in this instance though, in another context, it could stand for Digital Subscriber Line or heaven knows what else) "downgraded" from the 2.4.3x kernels. For last several releases, they've been using 2.4.26. I think someone onlist (Sheldon?) mentioned previously that the DSL folks had done this because of issues with the newest 2.4.x kernels.

Is there a list of known problems? I have the kernel source code on the SW10.2 (10.1?) CD.

I have run into bugs related to modules not inserting (sound modules needing things not listed in modules.dep, usb_serial). Crashes with any wireless card on one computer (where 2.2.26 works fine).

James
