From BL3 site:

This version comes as a 2.9 mb zip file. It unzips to a directory
on drive C: BL3 boots from DOS and runs in a loop file.

Minimum requirements Intel 386 or compatible 3 mb RAM DOS (or
Windows 95/98 in DOS mode)

/quote

I can create a DOS filesystem with mkdosfs, but it wouldn't be
bootable (says the manpage), and I don't know if that would nip
things in the bud.

But I'm not running DOS or win 95/98, or dosemu, and I'm pretty
sure _that_ would nip things in the bud.

Can you make a 30MB or so partition and install FREEDOS to it?

Can you run BL3.40 under dosemu? I got it working, I think only the libc6 version.

Everything is working now except 2.4.31 in loop BL3 (and of course I also need a usable wireless connection).
