Then make a larger ramdisk. Or make a one-floppy boot
(with PCMCIA capability for CF) for a CF root filesystem.

Or burn a bootable BL3 CDrom.

I have never burnt a data CD, just copied music or data CDs (via .raw file) but thanks for the idea. We could put it on a USB memory stick and boot from David's 1-floppy USB BL. Boot would still be much faster than Windows, but the 9 year old might lose the floppy disk and CD-ROM or USB memory stick.

One of our laptops only reads OEM CDs.
