I've never seen one (it's very uncommon) but apparently it is
much thicker than BNC coax.

Since the early 1980s.

No. If one (or both) of the cards is 10Mbps, that will be the
speed. If both cards are 10/100 (and both are in auto mode),
they will transfer at the higher speed.
