And what kind of kernel supports 15MB (or bigger) ramdisks?

Let's say I wanted to compile some program or other for BL3. What kind of
system should it be compiled on? Slack3.5, 3.9? Is the main requirement
that it be using libc5? I've got system resources and disk space to do
this (vmware, within which I could install SlackX.X), though what I'm
lacking now is time :)
