If you've got a Slackware 3.5 CDrom, there's really no
need to get 4.0. Most of the bits & pieces in BL3 come
from Slackware 3.5 or Slackware 3.2 (or were compiled
by me). I have CDroms for 3.2, 3.5 and 4.0, and tended
to go with the version that had the smallest footprint
(as long as it worked well). Most of the 4.0 stuff is
bigger (more features) so I usually opted for 3.5.

The reason I mentioned 4.0 was because a small number
of packages in 3.x will malfunction on BL3 because
they were designed for a 2.0 kernel. It's not a big
problem -- most users will probably never try to install
one of those packages. So, those of you with a Slack3
CDrom can keep using it.

But, for those of you without a CDrom looking for the
best place to get Slackware packages, the most up-to-date
option and the only one with a similar kernel to BL3 is
Slackware 4.0.

Cheers,
Steven
