Tomatoes are temperate seeds and will germinate well if cleaned and dried.
Tropicals don't care for that; they want to be planted when ripe, not held
over for a winter they wouldn't ordinarily experience...
Passiflora are hardier and will survive drying and holding for a while -
maybe up to a year - but their already erratic germination becomes more
iffy, with lower rates and longer and more sporadic times. I read that the
time to germination can vary from 2 weeks to 2 years.
Best success growing from seed would be from planting the fresh, pulpy,
seeds.
I learned from trying to root cuttings from a P incarnate that the fatter
material from the base of the plant roots better than the narrow vines that
look like they should tip-layer.

Hi Betsy,
Tomatoes have a similar problem with a kind of jelly around each seed.
I ferment them for a couple of days and the jelly is gone. Wash thoroughly
and dry on some newspaper. I'm not sure about storage of Passiflora seed.
You might find something on the Internet.
Good luck.
