I do have access to Acrobat. The main reason, other than your point of
intellectual property and ease of keeping a document together, is also
because it works across platforms. As we move toward XML, I am expecting
that we will find that to be quite a useful universal file type.

It may be that you missed my earlier post, but I think it is important to
know that if you do not have much money, or if you dislike supporting
Microsoft on principal, (and believe me, even though they are a small
minority in the U.S., they are exceptional vocal and strident about it:),
you can either use a low cost suite such as Sun's Star Office, or even a
free one such as Open Office. Some claim that the free one is better than
Star Office in terms of stability.

Almost everyone needs to have a good word processor, spreadsheet, etc. and
why not have one that can read native docs from many different formats?
