I have a question for anyone using EARTHLINK cable modem service

I think the idea is that by moving to EL from TWC that the services and support (beyond basic IP connectivity) may improve. DNS, NNTP, SMTP, IMAP/POP3, etc.

A few things to consider:

EL does support off-private network, authenticated SMTP. TWC used to, apparently inadvertantly, but recently stopped.

EL has significantly better dialup options for use during travel, outages, etc.

TWC has switched out it's e-mail s/w recently. Now showing as: (iPlanet Messaging Server 5.2 HotFix 1.12 (built Feb 13 2003)).

EL has recently "released" a significant number of employees. This will probably effect support.

To better compete with DSL, TWC/EL cable in our area has had is due for service upgrades to 3Mbps down, 512 Kbps up.

Some DNS info from TWC:
