Which CPU do you have?
Have you run memtest on this computer?
Can you try it on another linux computer?

I have an AMD Duron 600 MHz, 256 MB RAM. The memory is fine.

FWIW: I have installations of Peanut Linux, and Slackware9.1, on different
partitions in this machine, both of which run (a normal dynamic version of)
MPLAYER just fine. The machine is OK. Memory is OK.

The purpose of running THIS version of mplayer under BL2 is to see if it does work,
and find where it doesn't. In that situation, I find that it plays "most"
videos, as well as mp3 and oggs, under both BL2 and BL3. It just doesn't stream
successfuly for me.

The second version of mplayer does not give me your error messages but it also does not play sound. The conversion program (mpeg, ogg, etc. to wav) works for me - does it work for you?

Is the streaming audio actually working for someone with ALSA and newer kernel?

How did you set it up ?

No setup required. Just enter this:
------------------------------------------------
mplayer mms://viptvr.yacast.fr/tvr_franceculture
------------------------------------------------
The mms URL is just an example.

Thanks for that. I tried it.

Didn't work. :(

I got an error: quote -

MPlayer interrupted by signal 11 in module: open_stream.
- MPlayer crashed by bad usage of CPU/FPU/RAM.
Recompile MPlayer with --enable-debug and make a 'gdb' backtrace and
disassembly. Details in DOCS/HTML/en/bugreports_what.html#bugreports_crash.
- MPlayer crashed. This shouldn't happen.
It can be a bug in the MPlayer code _or_ in your drivers _or_ in your gcc
version. If you think it's MPlayer's fault, please read
DOCS/HTML/en/bugreports.html and follow the instructions there. We can't and
won't help unless you provide this information when reporting a possible bug.

--unquote.

The other version of MPlayer does not give an error and seems to be
playing, but not a sound was heard.

Any ideas ?

Regards
Ron
