Not a skip yet, in any format.

Wow. Good connection?
49333 this evening, my record, but the 42000 earlier this afternoon did not skip either. It must be the cache.

I think Mplayer also does OGG but stations which broadcast that
also broadcast some other format. Is there some advantage to OGG
over MP3?

It handles Ogg files, both Vorbis (musical audio) and Theora (video).
Vorbis appears in roughly 90+% of all .ogg files. There are other
Ogg formats, too, but they are rare. If you find a FLAC or Speex file,
you will need the specialized players.

My question was, why someone would broadcast in MP3 and also OGG - does OGG have some advantage, better compression or something?

Despite the big dump file, this is infinitely nicer to use than
Realaudio or Xine.

Good.

David
