I meant to write 'laptop model' not 'modem', sorry.
Toshiba seems to be a good choice for using BL3 and Xvesa.

Has anyone run across bad choices of 486 or 586 laptop other than our Compaq with the color video incompatibility? The 486 Compaq with mono LCD worked okay in 4-bit greyscale.

Are all PCMCIA modems hardware type (not winmodem)? Ours are, from 2400 to 56K. One 28.8K was incompatible with the color 486 Compaq.

Are there winmodems slower than 28.8?

Can you tell what maker and model your internal modem is?

I am working with a Toshiba WinBook XP in which the
Xvesa works just find as does the rest of BL3. I am
still working in the internal modem. I am going to
check out the LinModem project and see what I can
learn there. Hopefully I will have it connecting to
the internet via the phone soon.
