Once the TCP/IP connection is made (i.e. ping works),
you can do interesting stuff. For example, I started
httpd on BL3 and viewed it with Internet Explorer.

You don't need smbclient for that sort of thing.
Just a TCP/IP server on one end and an appropriate
client on the other.
