What type of machine are you running BL3 and
Abiword on, Steven?

At the moment it's running on a 200MMX. I tried it
on my 486 laptop (VGA screen), but AbiWord stopped
with a message saying it doesn't work with a color
depth of 4. I reduced the color depth to 4 on the
200MMX and got the same message. I also tried mono
(depth=1) but that didn't work either.

Flwrite had the same problem, won't work with plain VGA.
Opera used to work in mono but now requires lots of colors.
This is idiotic on the part of the programmers.

Depth of 4 - plain VGA (16 color) meaning Abiword is unlikely to work on the default X for BL2 (xvga server). It is great that you have it working with Xvesa in BL3 now.

I don't understand why a wordprocessor INSISTS on lots of colors when it could be used in mono for most purposes. Or a sound program (Realaudio).

Cheers,
Steven
