With the proper commands try "sleep" in between lines to give
one command a chance to work before invoking the other.. Start out
with, what, sleep 5, for 5 seconds and then, if that works, lower
them, cut and try, to find the proper "balance." You _are_ setting the
permissions of the script to "x" are you not?... Chmod 0755 a good
start if you're logged in as root...
