I think thats what this discussion is for so an educated descision can
be made and so we can move forward once and for all. Eric, Unet can you
guys decide by this deadline?

The crucial difference is what they are unhappy with. If they are unhappy
because the installer left them with an unbootable system thats different
than if the installer doesnt have support for network installing. Admittedly
someone could throw a tantrum on the mailing list about lack of network
installing support or something, but thats an entirely different severity
than the installer not leaving them a bootable system.

So some things ought to be fixed for 1.0 and other enhancements or
possibly major design flaws that arent crucial to the users "on the cd
experience" ought to wait. THats up to upper management to decide :)
We do have a target date for 1.0, and although we slipped I think we
have a very solid foundation for the rest of the journey.

Also, since this is the users first impression of the system, its on the
front lines of usability, thankfully david volunteered to do a bunch of
work with the installer.

Although i disagree on your last point, usually unhappy newbies come on
irc or post in the forums (if they do anything at all) and almost always
dont file bugs.

Thats why there are more people on the team than you, so you dont have
to fix every bug. We work as a team.

Btw, thanks for your latest test isos. I appreciate all the hard work
you put in.
