Skye here - an active listener of this list - not sooo active in
contributions, as much of it relates to climates outside my region. Anyway

Where am I from?

I am an Australian, have spent much of my last 15 years working totally in
Permaculture, mainly teaching in Australia, Mexico and various guest
appearances in other places.

Currently in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, central western Brasil - dry
tropics, lots of cattle and soybean monocultures destroying what was a rich
form of trpocal savanna - locally known as Cerrado. Currently working with
local indigenous communities in basic Permaculture - gardens to improve
nutrition, composting, native nurseries that sort of thing.

In the middle stages of planning to move to the state of Acre - to impliment
a large permaculture system as a strategy to help preserve a 8000ha.
seringal (type of upper Amazonian forrest - naturally rich in rubber trees -
I will be living and working with seringuieros - rubber tappers). So my
involvement in this list may even diminish - will only have access to
telephone and computers on the odd weekends when I leave the seringal and
visit our capital city - Rio Branco.

So, tropics on the dry side to tropics on the wet side. Anyone else from
similar climates/zones.

Chaio
