I live in downtown Boulder Colorado...just purchased a townhouse w/yard, and
will be implementing an urban Permaculture garden, so will be more active in
the listserve, seeking guidance and suggestions. The front yard is
currently 1 1/2" of stone on top of plastic, and the back (south) is
hard-pack soil with grass (120 sq. ft. each).

Boulder is high altitude, dry with over 300 sunny days/year. Winters are
relatively mild. Summers can be very hot but are dry. Boulder has a mild,
four-season climate.

- Precipitation (rain) is about 8 inches per year.
- Total average annual snowfall is 83.4 inches.
- May is typically the wettest month of the year, bringing in an average of
3.1 inches or precipitation per year.
- March tends to be the snowiest month with an average of 17 inches per
year.
- July is usually the hottest month with an average temperature of 72ºF,
while January is generally the coldest with a mean temperature of 32ºF.
- The average date for the first day of frost is Oct. 6, while Oct. 17 is
the average for the first day of snow.
- May 3 is the average date for the last day of frost, and April 25 is the
average date for the last snowfall of the winter season.
