A new LED flare suitable for an LZ that is extremely popular with LE, Fire, etc., is the PowerFlare.

The helicopter kit is a plastic box with 4 LED flashers in it. Each flasher
is a yellow disk that can be programmed to flash all LEDs together,
sequentially around, and other patterns. There is a gang charger in the box
to hold them between uses. Supposed to replace flares in marking medical
landing zones. Haven't had a chance to use them yet in our fire district but
reports from chopper pilots vary as to how they like them as opposed to
flares, especially at night.
