I have tried this..and the results are as you might expect....trade-off.  You need to work out machine access-if used-labor etc etc etc.  I still find that sowing white dutch clover is a good compromise.  After three decades of using this handy little plant in many applications, I just get more impressed.

I have said before that the more stuff I can grow on black plastic the more I like gadening;
 
but we have still had the problem of the spaces between rows. So, now I am wondering if
 
anyone has tried a weed block fabric to cover between row covers. As in, lay black
 
plastic row covers and then come back through with weed block fabric 8 - 10 inches
 
wider than the space  so that it lapps onto the plactic,temporari;y  hold it in place with enough wire
 
"staples" and cover that with an inch or so of "pea stone" gravel to realy hold it in place?
 
 
Your thoughts and/or experience will be appreciated.
