Most expect government to play some role in regulating products for public safety and health, but we won't get into the political business here. Suffice it to say people don't trust regulation at all. And for most, responsible living on the land involves getting control over what we eat and drink and ensuring our own health and safety from the land we have.

And, Paul, the government is trying to stop us from eating and drinking what we grow on the land by creating the National Animal Identification System that would put many homesteaders under government surveilance and a new tax system that would make it prohibitive for one to continue raising their own animals for food. All of their rules seem to lean toward having us participate in the illness creating industrial food system, calling homegrown unsafe and bad and agribusiness safe and good. Here in WA Ecology is trying to steal our water and the USDA is trying to control our farms. Soon we will have to give our Premise ID number to buy animal feed at our local feed store. For those who know nothing about this, go to NoNAIS.com
