This is all very interesting considering that the SATA protocol is a subset
of the Serial Attached SCSI protocol with the primary difference being
whether drives offer additional throughput (1.5 gbs sata vs 3.0 gbs SAS) and
dual-ported connections such as fibre-channel offers. SATA drives will even
work on SAS systems, but not the other way.
