Today's N&O has a Best Buy add with LinkSys Wireless cards at $79.99
(after mail-in rebate, and the LinkSys Base Station at $179.99 (after
mail-in rebate), and the PCI->PCMCIA adapter at 29.99 (after in-store
instant rebate). This means you can make your house and two desktop
machines wireless for about $400(+/-) after the rebates.

I do not know which chipset the LinkSys cards are using, and have not
personally verified Linux Compatibility. YMMV
