Mail order OEMs. Sorry, nobody I know locally is carrying them yet. Most
use the Hermes Chipset (Used in the Lucent Orinoco Cards) and are
supported under Linux Kernel 2.4.x as well as 2.2.x (with the proper
pcmcia_cs packages).

I'll be talking more on that subject at the May TriLUG meeting.

A great value card has been the WebGear Aviator/Pro cards, but they don't
support 802.11b (which specifies that you use DSSS), just 802.11 (which
allowed for FHSS, which is what these cards do). My info may be a bit out
of date, and there may be upgrades to correct this by now.

Oh, it's liberating. I'm in the computer room now, but I've been known to
IRC from the play room, or answer email from the kitchen.

I've yet to test the full range of the Airport, though. I wonder if I can
get to it from my nearest neighbor's house....
