Ok -- so the minimum to set up a wireless network is:

$299 base station
300? card for PC (or mac)
____
600 investment

(I wasn't sure if the airport card was an additional item or not).

I don't really use the computer at home enough to justify this kind of
investment (what can I say: I'm on 60+ hrs/wk. at work... I really don't
want to be online that often from home. I'm trying to preserve the
vestiges of my RL.)

I was also thinking (like Roger) that having a "wired" master suite would
be a selling point (even if I never use it)...

(All of which I could probably sum up as: "I didn't do a good job of
framing my original question. I am only a little interested in having
real connectivity throughout the house.... I am more interested in what I
could do that would be cheap-n-easy now that might offer me (or future
buyers of my house) some fun in the future.")

Knowing that I have the option to go wireless at any time, and knowing
that they're gonna be pulling cable anyway (for the speaker wire) does it
not make sense to get them to pull CAT5 or 6 or something? (I'm assuming
that the wire itself doesn't cost hundereds of dollars...)

Does that make sense?

Sorry for the confusion,

Gina

My brain seems to have a circuit-breaker-like mechanism that, when I get
confused and befuddled by the overwhelming monstrosities of my life,
causes a default to the simplest and most pleasant of thoughts. Like
