I've done my family history and there is no indication that anyone in
my ancestry fought in any war since colonial times. My grandfather
went to WWII as it was ending and some of his brothers went also.
That's it. For their part no-one really happened to be the right age
at the right time to fight.

I really don't buy all that "fighting for my right to day such
things", when it comes to dodging the draft in Vietnam. The
Revolutionary war was not fought on a draft. The War Between the
States wasn't on the Southern Side. That is not to belittle anyone who
is called to fight for the country, but I think that those that are
not called to do so are no less patriotic.

Could be. Really when it came out that Clinton might have evaded
service, I saw that as a plus. It took a while before I realized that
this was a negative for him with a lot of people. I grew up thinking
that not going to Vietnam was the right thing to do.
