Jeff and Lora are some of the world's good people. Look at my journal for
the week of September 22 for pictures. Jeff is the quintessential vision of
the good ol' boy. They are living what some dream of as the homestead life
but I doubt if they define themselves that way. They have a largish garden
and Lora cans all summer long. Almost every day I visited she had just
canned something. There is a jar of Apple Butter with my name on it waiting
in their pantry. Lora is an excellent cook and once owned a restaurant.
They have chickens in one of Gene's Chicken Moats, there are a couple of
their eggs left in my refrigerators. Jeff has a decent shop and whenever
something needs welded, it is taken to Jeff's. Jeff has the small engine
touch that I lack. Jeff is the one who came down the hill to pull my
trailer back up.

All in all some of the people I am glad to know in the Missouri Ozarks even
if some of them run off to Phoenix or Southern California. All I can say is
that Gene, Jeff, Lora, and I all had an adventurous summer.
