I am puzzling how someone could be disappointed in someone they had
already rejected.

It is not hard to understand. One always hopes against hope that any
pessimism is unfounded. I was quite
pessimistic about the man, and hoped that he would prove me wrong, but in
the end, I am only more disappointed.

Perhaps you are new to American politics. Fickleness is common;
expediency is the norm. Getting elected and then reelected is the
primary goal.

????? Perhaps you have forgotten who I am? I have voted in every election
since Reagan was elected the first time.

Biden voted for the invasion authorization. Soon after he began
criticizing how it was handled and he has continued to criticize it.

He walks a fine line. He can criticize all he wants, but in the end, he
votes with the Republicans on war funding and operations.

> Americans are ready for something different,

Anyone who votes for McCain will almost certainly get a continuation
of present failed policies.

Anyone who votes for Obama will
almost certainly accrue a new set of failed and expensive policies

I fail to see how getting oneself shot down and enduring prison
qualifies one for the presidency.

It doesn't, and I never said it does. Your link is a red herring to my
point. Let me clarify why I made the comparison between the two men. It has
nothing to do with being qualified to be president. IMO, both men are
qualified, it is just a matter of who will be the best choice for the country
in the long haul. Obama has run a few ads attacking McCain as a Washington
insider, perhaps you have seen these??? Oh wait, I forgot that you don't
have a TV to see all the negative ads (from both sides). Anyway, O-man has
been critical of insiders and touts his path as a new way of conducting
business/politics...no politics as usual, as they say..BUT, what does he do??
He recruits THE DC insider to be his VP. If he is so against the status quo,
why does he select Biden, an insider for 36+ years? Of course, now, since
Obama is throwing the change up, he has to spin it differently, and that spin
is just what you stated---he's taking the experienced manager angle. I don't
understand why you don't see that contradiction.

I already stated in a previous email that I don't believe that kind of thin=
g qualifies anyone for the presidency, but let me remind you that just 4 ye=
ars ago, it was a very big deal that John Kerry won 3 Purple Hearts.=A0 Ser=
vice and sacrifice seems fine if is it your candidate who has done so, and =
trivial if it is the other party's candidate.=A0 Politicizing sacrifice is =
never good, and we should have learned that lesson 50 years ago, but appare=
ntly not as we are still doing it (in both parties)
As a writer and as someone who champions diction and self expression with w=

that below is disrespectful to all aviators who have been POW's.=A0 In fac=

Thank's Gene. That is an excellent opinion piece by someone who knows many
truths about Sen. McCain. The commentary points out good reasons to respect
him as a warrior and still not want him in the oval office. It is from the
perspective of a longtime sociologist/peace activist , but it is still a very
good commentary.

"Senator John Sidney McCain, III is a remarkable man who has made enormous
personal achievements. And he is a man that I am proud to call a fellow POW
who "Returned With Honor." That's our POW motto. But since many of you keep
asking what I think of him, I've decided to write it out. In short, I think
John Sidney McCain, III is a good man, but not someone I will vote for in the
upcoming election to be our President of the United States."

...me and the stupid dog are writing in for Ron Paul....bobford
