Due to lack of time and patience, I have only read about 10% of posts on this latest political rounder, but I have to respond to this..
James, I totally agree. (I never thought I would say that to James of all people, but I absolutely, positively, 100% agree)
I'm not a Bush fan, but fair is fair. When does Congress take their share of responsibility for this "lie" to the American public?
The bourse, as well as a having a strategic location/base for future conflict(with Iran,Russia(please start reading up on the Georgia/Russia conflict), or China)-those were the reasons we invaded Iraq. Taking out Hussein was a plus as well as he had already shown a willingness and ability to use weapons of mass destruction and of course he was an environmental criminal, too.
It's funny to me that people think of Bush as an idiot(which he is), yet they think he is capable of all of this deception..remember that this is a man who couldn't even keep a straight face in a classroom of kids on 911...
In this world, there are those with power whose names would never be associated with the presidency or with politicians in general. These guys are the grand puppetmasters. I think there were huge financial and strategic reasons for our invasion of Iraq. They control not only the presidency, but public opinion and Congress as well through control of the media and the economies of the world. Congress is just as susceptible to being manipulated as the president or the public is.
The public is in denial about "the long emergency". Most folks can't tell you where Afghanistan is or what is going on in the Darfur. Most people who drive SUVs can't even calculate their own MPG or be able to tell you how far in miles they commute or taxi their kids everyday. I'd bet, too, that most Obama supporters couldn't point out Indonesia let alone Jakarta on a map(I know you guys on the list can, but you guys aren't representative of the sheeple)and probably don't even realize that it is another country, let alone has the largest Muslim population in the world.
But anyway...
On the CNN page there is a poll...60% of folks would rather live in the country than the city..I don't believe it..what they want is the romanticized view of the country...again, it's the sway of the media and not reality that drives the masses..it's only when someone finally gets the reality that they realize they have been duped..think back on how sick of scandal the people were when Clinton was president...everyone was pro-Republican then, almost as strong as folks are pro-Democrat now. People want to live in the country right up until they find that first snake in the house...lol...

Slightly off on a tangent, here's a good story...

In the book of the devoted anti-Bush, he is lying if he orders a cheeseburger at McDonalds. The definition of a lie is that you know positively that it is untrue when you say it. That is not in evidence.

This is the extent to which we have set reason aside. Bush (and probably McCain) are lying no matter what they say or what the facts are. Obama is always telling the truth no matter what he says or what the facts are. The present lie about not accepting money from lobbyists is a case in point.

Congress had the same information as Bush.

To anyone with at least half a brain it was obvious that the war was prosecuted to keep Iraq from setting up its own non-dollar oil burse. The real cause of the war was the people's unwillingness to accept the reality of the 'long emergency' energy difficulties that were shortly to arrive around the corner. Many cannot accept it to this day. </HTML>
