Word isn't awful. It's just that WordPefect had many very nice
features.

"Had?" Is it gone?

Well, no, but I just found this:
WordPerfect and other "classic" applications will not - and will never - run on Intel-based Macintosh computers such as the MacBook, MacBook, and Intel-based iMac and Mac Mini machines. It may be possible to run WordPerfect on PPC-emulator software that runs inside OS X on an Intel-based Macintosh, but the the result will never be worth the effort. Performance will be painfully slow and access to files and printers will be difficult or impossible.

So I guess it's a moot question for me and this iMac.
