Steven, please consider a small 2.4 kernel
for BL3

Sorry, that's not going to happen. I am
completely happy with the 2.2 kernel.

Can you help me figure out why my own 2.4.31 kernels will not work with loop BL3? Did you do something special to make yours work such as patch main.c? Can I do something to change from read-only to read-write after booting? (Not needed when using 2.4.31 with ext2 BL3).

The target system for BL3 has not changed:
486s and early Pentiums.

And non-cardbus PCMCIA cards. (The cardbus ones don't even physically fit the older laptops).

I realize some people consider PIIs and PIIIs
obsolete, but those computers have no need for BL3.
They are powerful enough to run a recent Slackware.

A 120MHz laptop with 16MB RAM won't work with a recent Slackware.

I cannot get 2.2 to work with five orinoco-based wireless cards, nor could another list member make his orinoco card work (with any kernel, but it was worse with 2.2). Do orinoco cards work with 2.2 for anyone? Maybe on some laptops they are okay? I can't find any mention of this problem outside the BL archives.

These don't work with 2.2.26:

Linksys WPC11 ver 2.5 and 3
Sohoware
DELL Truemobile
Microsoft MN-520

Cheers,
Steven
