Same problem (lack of kernel support for ppp) using ext2 BL3.50 (the beta version). BL3.40 ext2 works with the lucent modem when I chroot there after inserting the modules in 3.50 (but then 3.50 will not telnet using this connection, Unknown host, though I replaced the DNS numbers).

My disk2 was perfect. I copied the modules from ext2 BL3.40 to 3.50.
Same pppd and eznet. Same kernel and modules. Can someone repeat this problem with a lucent modem?

Using BL3.50 floppy disks on a computer with lucent linmodem.

I insmodded slhc and ppp. I made /dev/ttyLT0 (mknod /dev/ttyLT0 c 5 62).

I copied these two modules to a third DOS-formatted disk
and insmodded them from there (insmod lt_modem.o and lt_seria.o).
(I also tried copying from fd to /lib/modules/2.2.26/misc and renaming to
lt_serial.o)

I copied the modules directly from hd this time.
Sorry I did not test this before the FD version was made.

I edited eznet.conf to use /dev/ttyLT0.

ppp-on told me my system lacks kernel support for ppp.

Same kernel and modules that work in BL3.40 or BL2 when I chroot or boot directly to them.
