the trick to 486 laptops is finding one with PC card slots

I've never seen a 486 laptop without a PCMCIA slot (but it
might be different in other countries). Even my 486sx-25
has a PCMCIA slot.

We have one, a lightweight Ultra with 2MB RAM and no color. The Compaq with 12MB RAM has a PCMCIA slot.

and onboard sound

I have never seen a 486 laptop with built-in sound (but
I only look at cheap stuff). There might have been some
high-end 486 laptops with sound, but it won't be easy
finding one at a cheap price.

Ours have all had no sound. It is nonstandard anyway and I never got any onboard laptop sound to work in linux yet.

Cheers,
Steven
