Have you actually tried that? It works for floppies
(eg -fda /dev/fd0), but I couldn't get it work with HDs
(-hda /dev/hda) or with HD partitions (-hda /dev/hda1).

It works for me. I would actually prefer the format you
suggested above and I spent a lot of time trying to get
it to work before giving up and doing it via fat:/hd

Perhaps I missed something? If your method actually
works, please tell me. I would rather use that method.

To stop qemu trying to boot from it. I could have used
the -boot parameter, but when I was typing in the message
I wasn't sure of the syntax (and the computer that has
qemu was not turned on).
